Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 small onion diced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup water divided (1/4 cup, 1/2 cup)
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef stock or broth
  • 4 eggs
  • White rice cooked
  • Sliced green onion garnish
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Mix ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Form into 4 patties.
  2. Fry patties in oil for 5 minutes per side (or until internal temperature of 160 degrees F). Remove from pan, and let rest.
  3. In same pan, add chopped onion, minced garlic and saute until soft and translucent. Add soy sauce and worcestershire sauce to pan, and and cook for 30 seconds, scraping up all brown bits from bottom of pan.
  4. Add 2 cups of beef stock and bring to simmer.
  5. Stir 3 tbsp flour into 1/2 cup water to form a slurry. Slowly whisk slurry into stock, and allow to simmer until gravy has thickened.
  6. Melt butter in frying pan over medium-low heat.
  7. Crack 4 eggs into pan. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and cook to desired doneness (either sunny side up or over easy)
  8. To serve, plate white rice. Top with hamburger patty. Top with brown gravy. Add egg on top. Garnish with green onion.
