Spaghetti & Tuna (Spaghetti con Tonno)

Spaghetti &Tuna is one of the fastest and easiest Italian recipes to create at home. Originating in coastal Italian regions like Puglia and Sicily, it is a staple comfort food for many Italians. Ingredients
  

  • 3 cans tuna packed in olive oil
  • 16 oz Spaghetti
  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper
  • ½ stick Butter
  • salt/pepper to taste
  • Optional: fresh parsley and parmesan

Method
 

  1. Cook spaghetti in heavily salted water for 1 minute less than package directions.
  2. Drain spaghetti, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.
  3. In deep sided saute/frying pan, melt butter. Add crushed red pepper flakes to butter.
  4. Add tuna to butter mixture and allow to cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add spaghetti to pan with tuna, toss and slowly incorporate small amounts of pasta water until desired consistency.
  6. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Optional: top with parmesan and fresh parsley
